| The Summer Program |
The summer program is divided into four divisions. Two of our divisions meet at the same facility each session and the other two divisions play at different facilities. The divisions are as follows: Novice Boys Division – This division is designed to introduce the game of golf to juniors who have never played. We teach basic swing techniques through clinics as well as etiquette and rules of play. There is a one day clinic and six play days where the juniors play 5 or 9 holes according to ability. The first three play days are scrambles and the last three are individual stroke play. We try to have a parent walk with each group and there is a maximum score of 10 strokes per hole. The juniors must be 8 to 11 years of age to participate. Girls Division – This division is designed to introduce girls who have never played or have played some but are not ready for competitive golf. The girls follow the same schedule and rules as the Novice Boys Division. The advanced and intermediate girls play 9 holes and the beginner girls play 5 holes. The advanced girls play 9 holes from the forward (red) tees, the intermediate girls play 9 holes on a shortened course and the beginner girls play 5 holes on a shortened course. Juniors must be 8 to 18 years of age to participate in this division. Intermediate Boys Division – This division is designed for boys from 10 to 18 years of age who have never played or who have played but are not ready for intense competition. Juniors will play 9 holes in this division with each junior playing in his appropriate age group. The 10-12 age group play the forward tees, 13-14 and 15-up play the intermediate tees. They begin the season with a clinic the first week which is followed by one scramble and five play days of individual stroke play. There is a double par maximum score per hole. Tournament Division – This division is designed for the more advanced golfers who wish to play competitive golf. The juniors must be able to score under 100 on a regulation course to qualify. The first two tournaments are used as qualifiers. Juniors unable to maintain a stroke average of 100 or less may be moved to the Intermediate Division. These juniors must be 10 to 18. The boys play within age groups (10-12, 13-14, 15-16, and 17-18) as well as the girls (10-14 and 15-18). Points are awarded to the top ten finishers each week.
